THE MAN:
Michael was raised in a Christian home by godly parents involved in the Pentecostal Church of God. Michael's mother, Pauline Wilson-Burks, was a PYPA Youth leader in the early 60s and 70s. The family transitioned into the Assemblies of God for a few years before moving to his grandfather's congregation at Grove Full Gospel Church in Springdale. The family's strong faith heritage has continued throughout Michael's life. He cherishes his faith, God's word, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Blessed with two wonderful children whom he adores and four grandchildren. Tragedy struck Michael's heart In December of 2024, when he lost his 11-year-old Grandson to a 4 1/2-year battle with Brain Cancer. Michael's faith stands strong even through the most difficult time of loss, knowing he will be reunited with his precious grandson in Heaven. In his own words, "Heaven is just a whole lot sweeter now that my precious Dax is home."
THE MUSIC:
Michael Burks, "Michael B" began music very early. By age six, he sang children's songs with his younger sister, Scharlene, and older brother, Billy. Michael first touched a piano at age eight and is self-taught with the ability to play skillfully by ear. Throughout his early teenage years, he was honored to play piano and sing with some local bands, including The Bilderbacks. While singing and playing in many venues, his love for ministry and his calling became apparent in everything he did. In 1995, he was a founding vocal member of the The Galloways. In this new career, he was honored to share the stage with his talented sister, Scharlene Galloway, and her husband, Earl. Together the trio traveled extensively, ministering and performing in many large venues, including the National Quartet Convention, TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network), Spirit Fest, many churches, and auditoriums. He was with the trio when they recorded a video entitled Eddie Crook and His Heartwarming Friends with the Eddie Crook Company. Recording projects with The Galloways include Take One, Granny's Favorite Hymns, and Provisions. He is a gifted songwriter with songs that are of depth and meaning.Michael is a talented vocalist who brings each song to life with the delivery and expression Michael's songs include Lifeline; I Refuse To Move, The Key To The Throne Room, Light In A Dark Place, He'll Do What He Said, His Blood Made Provision, Stand Still and See, Inside The Blood and Oh My Mansion which made its way to #5 on the Singing News Charts for six consecutive months and was published in The Top Forty Singing News Fan Awards Songbook of the Year for 1998. After several years on the road with The Galloways, he took a hiatus to raise his young children. . Michael has recently completed a new solo album, GRACE, with Daywind Records in 2023. In 2024, he recorded a new 12-song album with Daywind called FAITH, featuring several of his original songs and others. The first song released to radio, "I Can;t Wait to See What God Is Gonna Do" written by Marty Funderburke and Jim Davis has shown promise as it climbs to #62. His second release, "He'll Do What He Said" has just been sent out in January 2025.
THE MINISTRY:
Michael is known for his deep love for God and dedication to cultivating the ministry of music. He is no stranger to the anointing of the Holy Spirit and is known for saying, "The anointing of the Lord can do more in just a few seconds than we can do in a lifetime on our own." . He is a tremendous worship leader with a gift for arranging songs to create an atmosphere of praise, worship, and reverence. He incorporates real life into his concerts and special music to bring the message of the Gospel through the song he shares.
In the early 2000s, he served as the Director of Praise and Worship for Living Faith Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas, under Senior Pastor Buel Curtis and Associate Pastor Steven Curtis. Currently, he serves as the Director of Praise and Worship at Blackburn Community Covenant Church in Winslow, Arkansas, under Pastor Marsha Cooley.
When Michael is not singing or in church, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, swimming, writing and rehearsing new material. Traveling is a passion, and he enjoys the sights you can see from the air and the natural beauty of God's creation.
When asked what he would like everyone to know, his response was simple,
"God's grace is sufficient, and His goodness and mercy will chase you all the days of your life."
